Banyan Tree
Is there room for me by the banyan tree
Can I lay my dreams down gently
I want to walk out on a cool, cool breeze
With my mind ahead of and behind me
I know the world is in my hands
The mountains kneel at my command
Right now it doesn’t feel I can hardly stand
Does anybody know the lay of the land
I’d love to meet her, the lay of the land
I don’t choose my words with the care I should
I’m not sure my actions are all good
But just coz I try to let the feelings free
Should I be nailed up here with the other three
Should I be nailed up here with the other three
I just sing….
When are you going to move
When’ll you roll the stone over the hill
When’ll you lift those eyes
Even though you know that you never will
Lord, you can’t say I’ve suffered a lot
I’m terribly grateful for what I’ve got
Give me the grace before I rot
To roll the stone away
Roll the stone away
I’ve got the words and I got the rhymes
Sticking needles into the cushion of time
What I need now is one more line
And the deep space of your silence
